Switzerland

Switzerland is a landlocked, mountainous country in Central Europe famous for its natural beauty and quality of life. It is a melting pot of landscapes and diverse cultures with enthralling highlights like deep blue lakes, the majestic Alps mountains, vibrant cities, green valleys lined with small villages, and charming old towns.

Switzerland is also a multilingual country, with German, French, Italian, and Romansh as official languages. Take advantage of the welcoming nature of the Swiss people while enjoying the influence of the Mediterranean lifestyle in the Ticino that borders Italy.

If you enjoy an active lifestyle, Switzerland is a treat with its abundance of outdoor activities. Hike through alpine meadows; go mountain biking on the Matterhorn in Zermatt; and try aquatic sports like river rafting, stand-up paddling, or kayaking at Lake Brienz.

Lake Constance is fed by the Rhine River, which is shared by two other countries, Austria and Germany. It is a popular summer destination for sailing, windsurfing, and swimming. Those who seek to unwind their bodies and souls through thermal and therapeutic baths will find refuge in Saint Maritz.

A visit to Chillon castle in Veytoux is a must, and a ride on the chocolate train in Montreux will definitely gratify your sweet tooth. Zurich is the largest and most cosmopolitan city in Switzerland, famous for its Bahnhofstrasse-rivalling shopping district and vivacious nightlife.

Enjoy the quaint town of Lugano, which is perfectly tucked away between Lake Lugano and the surrounding mountains. Visit a winery in the hills to sample some of the area’s award-winning Merlot wine or take a cruise on the lake to learn more about the area.

In addition to the original Old Town neighborhoods, modern buildings by Botta and Le Corbusier can be found nearby. These buildings can be seen close to Roman ruins, medieval castles, and Baroque cathedrals.

Observe the Rhone and Arve rivers’ merging point in Geneva. Toward Lake Geneva, vineyards descend in a long arc. The Waadtland Alps or the serene peaks of the Jura are just a short drive from Geneva. Don’t forget to shop for watches, cheese, and chocolate!

Relax on the shores of Lake Maggiore with a walnut gelato while watching boats and swans and the towering Monte Rosa mountains on the other side. In the pristine side valleys of Ticino, houses with stone-dotted roofs and the most contemporary architecture are breathtaking.

To the south of the Alps, you’re in for a Mediterranean treat: outdoor cafes on lively plazas with laughter, conversation, and happiness. Heavenly beaches with palm trees, promenades for leisurely strolls, and Romanesque churches.

Visitors with an artistic bent should visit the Swiss Land Museum in Zurich, the Art Museum in Basel, as well as the Transport Museum in Lucerne, which promises a unique experience.

Enjoy the steepest cogwheel train to Mt. Pilatus and a revolving restaurant with a panoramic view of the valley at Mt. Schilthorn. You will be in awe of Switzerland’s beauty and it will melt your heart just like cheese. Switzerland is home to beautiful weather, breathtaking scenery, and delectable cuisine.
