Family Fun in the Tropics

This expedition is designed especially with family in mind. Let your children learn to appreciate the beauty of nature as they enjoy land and marine expeditions in the southwestern Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica.

  • A magical guided walk discovering Corcovado National Park, the last remaining Pacific lowland rainforest of sustainable size in Central America.
  • Century-old trees decorated with colorful plants, choirs of hundreds of birds and jewel-toned lizards, frogs, butterflies such as the morpho.
  • Troops of white faced or spider monkeys jumping comically from tree to tree.
  • Picnic on a white sand beach sheltered by coconut palms and snorkel among coral reefs.
Day 1
Arrival San Jose

You will be met on arrival at San Jose International Airport by a representative of A&S Signature Journeys and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight at the Grano de Oro Hotel.

Day 2
San Jose to Corcovado

Transfer to local airport for morning domestic fligth to Palmar Sur area. Upon arrival welcome by your naturalist guide and drive down to the town of Sierpe to board the boat to the lodge. Afternoon to explore the lodge trails and enjoy sunset from a lookout point. Overnight at the Casa Corcovado Lodge

Day 3
Corcovado National Park

A 20 minute boat ride from the lodge will land you at the northern entrance to the Corcovado National Park. Trails begin along pristine beaches, wind through deep rain forest, and follow riverbeds to magnificent waterfalls and swimming holes. Scarlet macaws, reptiles, and several species of monkeys are creatures you might chance to spot with your local guide.

Day 4
Caño Island

Located 10 miles or 45 minutes from Drake Bay, explore a world apart from the mainland – Cano Island Biological reserve. A morning hike will take you through the forest to breathtaking lookout points. Then explore Caño’s clear blue, tropically warm waters and coralline reels snorkeling with your guide. Afterwards enjoy a tropical picnic lunch by the beach.

Day 5
Corcovado to San Jose

After breakfast you will board the boat for the transfer to Sierpe. Upon arrival land transfer to the town of Palmar Sur for the domestic flight back to San José. Upon arrival at the local airport, transfer to your hotel. Afternoon at leisure to explore on your own or with a local guide some city attractions (at extra cost).

Day 6
San Jose Departure

Departure transfer to International Airport.

  • Meet and greet on arrival at Airport.
  • Accommodation and meals as indicated in the itinerary (B – Breakfast, L – Lunch, D – Dinner).
