Day 1
Airport / Kotugoda

Ayubowan – you have arrived! Welcome to Sri Lanka! Your chauffeur guide will welcome you at the airport for transfer to your hotel. On the way from the airport, stop for a delicious Tambili (King Coconut) to quench your thrust and rehydrate after a long flight.

Plunge yourself into the refreshing pool and spend the afternoon relaxing with a good book and a cup of Ceylon tea in the beautiful gardens of this superb colonial manor house, The Wallawwa.

Tips: Learn the word “Estuti”- it means thank you in Sinhalese and can go a long way in pleasing the locals and don’t leave coins as tips – it is considered ‘begged money’ and can insult any Sri Lankan.

Day 2
Kotugoda / Anuradhapura / Mihintale / Sigiriya

After a leisurely breakfast, proceed to the cultural triangle. Visit our most extensive & important ancient city of Anuradhapura from 4thcentury BC.

The rocky hill of Mihintale is synonymous with Buddhism in Sri Lanka for it was on this very rock that “Mahinda Thero” had his first encounter with King Devanampiyatissa, which in turn led him to converting to Buddhism.

Continue to your hotel in Sigiriya to unwind and relax.

Day 3
Sigiriya / Habarana / Sigiriya

After breakfast explore the typical Sri Lankan village life. Go on a Village Tour in Habarana area.

You will be picked up closer to your hotel and taken in a Tuk Tuk (three wheeler) up to the road leading to “Hiriwaduna Village” (a typical Sri Lankan village). Thereafter, you will be transferred in a Bullock cart (a locally made cart pulled by 2 bulls) to a tradtional farming land (Chena). Once arrived to the farm you will be treated with a cup of tea and juggary which will help you to quench your thirst. Once you finish exploring the corps and the tree house in the farm, you can help the ladies to prepare your lunch (only if you wish!). Enjoy your lunch (local rice & curry followed by desires – fruits and curd) in a traditional Sri Lankan house. Thereafter, proceed to your hotel on a different route. And this time you may need to cross a stream in a catamaran! This will be an exciting tour for those show ant to experience the real Sri Lankan village life! (Please note that depending now rather, the set up and the activities can change)

In the afternoon climb to the stop of the UN World Heritage Site of Sigiriya at 4pm. An ancient rock fortress from 5thcentury. Amazing views of the cultural triangle. This is a must do!

Day 4
Sigiriya / Minneriya / Sigiriya

After a leisurely breakfast visit Pollonnaruwa, which is a UN World Heritage Site and was the Capital of Sri Lanka from 11th – 13th Centuries. It contains some splendid and spectacular statues.

In the afternoon enjoy a jeep safari at Minneriya / Kaudulla National Park. Minneriya National Park shelters some of the greatest wildlife treasures of this paradise isle. The “Sixth Greatest Wildlife Spectacle of the World” – the amazing phenomenon of the “Minneriya Elephant gathering” that occurs during August – September.

Return to the hotel and relax.

Day 5
Sigiriya / Kandy

In the mooring leave the cultural triangle and head to the last stronghold of sinhala Kinds & UN World Heritage Site – the Hill Country capital of Kandy.

Wander around the lake and the streets of Kandy getting a feel for this wonderful city and explore the local markets. Visit the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens and see its treasures of tropical flora.

In the evening visit the city’s Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and experience a Puja Ceremony. Check-in at the hotel and relax.

Day 6
Kandy / Tea Country

After an early breakfast, proceed to Pinnawela.

If it’s your dream to feed an elephant then you should not miss the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – home to many abandoned or injured elephants. It is one of Sri Lanka’s most visited sites. Our guest love it!

Arrive in Tea Trails and relax. Later put your walking shoes on and stride out into the picturesque tea country. It is right at your doorstep – with so many incredible walks form 20 minutes to 4 hours. The choice is yours.

Enjoy the best cream tea in Sri Lanka and perhaps play a spot of croquet.

Day 7
Tea Country

Spend the morning seeing how Ceylon tea is made and learn the art of becoming a discerning tea taster with the Master himself, Andrew Taylor – a descendent of James Taylor who planted the first tea seen in Sri Lanka in 1867.

Visit the nearby Warleigh Church built in 1878 by early British planters. It is situated in one of the most stunning locations.

Wander through the tea gardens and visit the local tea pluckers creche that is supported by Ceylon Tea Trails and the MJF Foundation.

Day 8
Tea Country – Weligama

After a leisurely breakfast proceed to Weligama.
Check-in at the hotel and relax by the pool.

Day 9
Weligama

Enjoy the day at your leisure.

Day 10
Weligama / Kohugoda

After breakfast proceed to Colombo and check-in at the hotel to unwind and relax.

Day 11
Kohugoda / Airport

It is time to leave the isle of Serendipity!

Stop for your last Tambili on the way to the airport before boarding your departure flight to your final destination.
