Day 1
Arrival Lilongwe (D)

On arrival at Lilongwe airport you will be met and transferred to Heuglin’s Lodge (30 minutes drive). Heuglin’s Lodge is located in a quiet residential area in the suburbs of Lilongwe, just minutes away from the city centre and is in close proximity to many of the city’s restaurants, shopping centres and main areas of interest. Set in a tranquil and quiet garden, this attractive rambling house is named after the Heuglin’s Robin, which is often seen lurking in the lodge grounds. It has spacious and tastefully furnished rooms, a swimming pool and a large garden.

Day 2
Liwonde National Park (B/D)

After breakfast you will be transferred to Mvuu Camp in Liwonde National Park (4 to 5 hours). Mvuu means “hippo” in the local Chichewa language and the name epitomises the large numbers of hippo pods that inhabit the nearby Shire River. The Camp is situated near the banks of the Shire River and is located downstream from Mvuu Lodge, and is a tasteful blend of stone and canvas chalets that accommodates up to 34 guests in spacious twin, double and family chalets. The thatched dining area and lounge provides a magnificent river vista framed by two large baobab trees. Meals are often served buffet style and dinners are often taken under the stars in a specially constructed boma. A campsite, children’s playground and swimming pool makes the camp ideal for both families and travellers seeking an affordable wilderness experience.

Day 3
Liwonde National Park (B/D)

Free to enjoy activites at the Camp: Day and night game drives, boat safaris on the Shire River, guided walks, game drives in the Rhino sanctuary (extra $5 per person paid locally), local tours to Nanthomba school and bike rides to Njobvu village.

Day 4
Liwonde National Park (B/D)

Free to enjoy activites at the Camp: Day and night game drives, boat safaris on the Shire River, guided walks, game drives in the Rhino sanctuary (extra $5 per person paid locally), local tours to Nanthomba school and bike rides to Njobvu village.

Day 5
Lake Malawi (B/D)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Makokola Retreat (2 hours), located just north of Mangochi, on the palm fringed southern shore of Lake Malawi. Just a few miles away is Boadzulu Island, the most southern part of Lake Malawi’s National Park and home to many birds, fish and reptiles. The beach retreat offers plenty of watersports activities including snorkelling, sailing, skiing, knee-boarding and island excursions to name a few. Guests can also choose to venture out on a village excursion or if you are in the mood for a more challenging activity, golfing or a beach volleyball match may be an enjoyable past-time.

Day 6
Lake Malawi (B/D)

Free to ejoy activites at the Retreat: snorkelling, sailing, skiing, knee-boarding, island excursions, etc.

Day 7
Lilongwe (B)

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Lilongwe Airport (4 hours) in time for your international flight back home.
